Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail

I just finished reading Wild by Cheryl Strayed. It’s the story of a courageous young woman who hiked the Pacific Crest Trail – alone – to (re)find herself. It was a very interesting, easy read and it kept me hooked all the way through.

I have to say that the only difficulty I had was reading this on the heels of A House in the Sky. I finished it a mere weeks before starting Wild and, while there are some similar themes, I was so moved by a House that it was hard to get into Wild at first. But I continued and became more engrossed with each turn of the page.

Both stories portray such brave women, each coming from challenging childhoods, and moving trough life with courage and reflection. I could relate to each in various ways although, I don’t think I could ever be as brave as they have been in the face of adversity.

If you’re looking for a good beach or vacation read, I highly recommend both Wild and A House in the Sky. I hope they will inspire and move you as much as they did me.
